I came across Casa Talia when I was researching a recent trip to Sicily. The concept is similar to Aman’s Sveti Stefan in Montenegro – the owners have bought a number of village properties and have renovated them. In the process they have created some beautiful interiors. I particularly love the tiles that are the hero factor of most of the rooms, and the outdoor spaces with views over the UNESCO World Heritage town of Modica.
We stayed in one of the two apartments. The apartment was loft style, with the bedroom and shower downstairs and the dining room, kitchen and chill out space above. We also had a small table on a private balcony overlooking the town. The bedroom was ‘cave style’ – it reminded me a little bit of some of the Santorini resorts – very cool.
One of the highlights for me was the breakfast, which if the weather is good is served on a small outdoor terrace. The views are stunning, but it also has the feel of spending time in the country with friends. A great start to the day.
